spock's beard

according to the spock's beard website, the physical cd scheduled for release this month has been delayed.  for us lucky ones who pre-ordered, they are offering a free download of the mp3's.  i'm listening to it now, and i have to say, it's wonderful.  it's one thing to have issues with a release, but it takes a class act to admit it, and make good on it.  highly recommended.

porcupine tree

lightbulb sun is one of my favorite porcupine tree cds. i've recently been listening to all of the porcupine tree catalog and i am duly impressed. steven wilson is a genius.

glass hammer

first purchase of 2013 is glass hammer's cor cordium. got it used from zia records and listened to it on the way home. good stuff, a mixture of yes and genesis. the lead singer is now also the lead singer of yes, jon davison.

remember the future

one of the best prog rock albums of 1973, nektar, remember the future. they had a problem with the original cd and the subsequent remaster. the guitar was too low in the mix, and overall, it was muddy, compared with the vinyl. this 2002 remaster fixed those issues, and is true to the original vinyl recording. while pricy, i highly recommend it. by the way, if anyone is rich and loves prog, yes, along with nektar, glass hammer, steve hacket, and a host of other prog bands/musicians, are going to be on a cruise - cruise to the edge - in march of 2013. wish i were there...

picked up a copy of yesyears at zia records the other day. very good condition, and about half the new price.
